Safe Torque Off

This page describes the Safe Torque Off (STO) function of the Epulse10 servo drive. The STO inputs allow the safe stopping of the motor from a manual emergency button or from a safety control system.

Manual switch (Emergency button)

The illustration below shows a typical connection with a manual emergency stop button.

Safety PLC

The STO function can also be controlled by a safety system, for example a Safety PLC output or safety sensors (e.g. a safety light curtain, a safety scanner, etc.).

How STO works

- The STO inputs disable the drive output so that the motor cannot produce torque. - The function is used for the safe stopping of the machine in an emergency. - The STO can be triggered by a manual emergency stop or by a safety control system. - For the wiring and the safety parameters, refer to the connection page and the safety documentation.
